A gentle circular walk of about 4.5 miles taking in views of the castle, Barnard Castle town and the riverside, Egglestone Abbey, and historic sites connected with JMW Turner, Charles Dickens and Sir Walter Scott. The walk will be led by Michael Rudd, author of Discovering Teesdale. There may be some muddy sections. We finish at The Bowes Museum at about 1.30pm, in time for an optional lunch or visit to the Festival's special exhibition before the afternoon events. No dogs, please.

GUIDED WALKS
Please wear boots and bring waterproofs and a hat, plus lunch and water for full-day walks. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, if on a lead, unless otherwise indicated. Remember coins for ticket machine if starting from a car-park. Places are limited, so book in advance.
