David Blake's 5th String Quartet, specially commissioned to celebrate the Swaledale Festival's 30th Anniversary, will be heard here for the first time - in the village in which it was composed. The Fitzwilliams - perhaps the most admired of all the great British string quartets - will also play Samuel Barber's Quartet Op. 11 which contains his famously sublime Adagio, Schnittke's brilliant tribute to Stravinsky, and a late Beethoven masterpiece. A musical feast of the highest quality!
